Hays has partnered with a Council in Western Sydney to find an experienced veterinary professional to join their animal welfare team on a 6-month contract as their Cat Liaison Officer.
**Your new role**
This role will participate in Council's Community Cat Strategy that manages the intake of cats into the facility, and also addresses the chronic problem of semi-owned cats and nuisance cats in the community. This will involve Targeted Desexing Programs which the Cat Liaison Officer will coordinate and potentially working with Trapping, Neuter & Return/Rehome programs.
Responsibilities in this role include:
- Manage impounded cats: Carry out behaviour assessments for determining suitability for adoption.
- Coordinate, train and recruit Kitten Foster Carers.
- Address urban cat management: Identifying urban cat colonies for targeted desexing.
- Create and implement the Council Urban Cat Management Plan.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- High level of feline health and behaviour knowledge
- Veterinary nurse qualification
- Exceptional cat handling skills
- Great customer service including liaising with public, foster carers and rescue agencies
- Self-motivated, organised, able to multitask
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent written and IT skills
