About the roleThe Data Scientist works as part of the Forecasting and Analytics team to help Atlas Arteria derive value from its data and enable the business to make data informed decisions. Reporting to the Director Forecasting and Analytics, the role works across a diverse portfolio of businesses to understand their needs, perform relevant data analysis and build and evaluate models to solve problems.
The Data Scientist is expected to use their insight and expertise to build and maintain quantitative models that provide data driven strategic insight into how traffic and revenue behaves across the portfolio. The Data Scientist will work across the end-to-end process, from data management to ensuring stakeholders have accurate and timely analysis to make effective decisions. In addition, the role works closely with other team members, as well as working with data providers and statistical tools to look at ways to continually evolve and improve the capability and tools used by Atlas Arteria to provide this insight.

About youWe’re looking for someone who holds a bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification in economics, science, engineering or a related field, and has 3 to 5 years’ experience with demand forecasting, financial and/or economic models in the infrastructure sector.
You possess strong coding knowledge and experience with several languages including R and SQL, alongside familiarity with data science workflows and products such as APIs, PowerBI, and SQL. Your background includes creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics, such as regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modelling, clustering and decision trees.
You are also experienced in preparing high quality, impactful and professional documents, for both internal and external stakeholders, with demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into content that can be understood by non-technical individuals.
