As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to support our financial management, reporting processes, and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Support management in developing financial policies, budgeting frameworks, and accounting procedures that align with the company's lending advisory and mortgage brokerage operations.
* Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports, and performance analyses to assist directors and senior management in monitoring the profitability and financial sustainability of brokerage activities.
* Analyse commission income from loan settlements, lender payments, and operational expenditures to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and effective cost management.
* Evaluate the company's financial performance by reviewing income streams, operational costs, and service-related expenditures associated with mortgage broking, loan structuring, and financial advisory services.
* Ensure financial records, statements, and reports comply with Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation, and relevant statutory reporting requirements.
* Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), taxation returns, and other financial compliance documentation required for the organisation's regulatory obligations.
* Maintain and enhance accounting systems used to track loan commissions, client transactions, and business expenses, while advising management on the implementation or improvement of digital accounting platforms.
* Establish and monitor internal financial control procedures to safeguard company funds, maintain transparency, and ensure proper recording of brokerage income and expenses.
* Liaise with banks, lenders, financial institutions, and external advisors to reconcile financial transactions related to loan settlements, commissions, and funding arrangements.
* Provide financial insights to management regarding the viability of new service offerings, partnerships with lenders, or expansion into additional lending solutions such as commercial or asset finance.
* Assist in forecasting cash flow and budgeting to support the company's growth strategy and ensure sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations.
* Support internal financial reviews and assist external auditors or advisors in evaluating the accuracy and compliance of the organisation's financial records.
Qualification• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• Professional accounting membership (or working towards CPA / CA) preferred.
Skills and Experience
* Minimum 2 years experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within finance, lending, or professional services sectors.
* Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
* Experience with accounting software and financial management systems.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
* Ability to interpret financial data and provide practical insights to management.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
