Overview
Seeking a Database Analyst to lead structured data migrations between enterprise applications and optimize PostgreSQL workloads. Role focuses on data quality, performance tuning, reporting, and cross-team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, script, and execute end-to-end data migrations (assessment, mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation).
- Diagnose and resolve SQL and data integrity issues across multiple environments.
- Monitor PostgreSQL performance (indexes, vacuum/analyze cadence, execution plans) and implement tuning.
- Refactor and optimize complex SQL (CTEs, window functions, partitioning strategies).
- Build and maintain reporting queries and views aligned to business requirements.
- Implement data quality checks, profiling, and audit trails.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to formalize data requirements.
- Identify schema and query optimization opportunities to reduce latency and resource usage.
- Contribute to documentation (data dictionaries, migration runbooks, performance playbooks).
Qualifications
- 5+ years in a Database Analyst, DBA, or Data Engineer role.
- Advanced PostgreSQL expertise (query planning, indexing strategies, locking behavior, transactions, extensions).
- Strong SQL (window functions, CTEs, set-based operations, performance tuning).
- Experience with data migration tooling (custom ETL scripts, psql, pg_dump/pg_restore, logical replication).
- Proven troubleshooting using EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE and pg_stat_* views.
- Strong analytical and communication skills; able to translate requirements into efficient queries.
- Experience with version control and change management for schema and migration scripts.
- Knowledge of data protection and privacy best practices.
Preferred
- Experience with scripting (Python or Bash) for automation.
- Exposure to cloud-hosted PostgreSQL (AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
- Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (pg_stat_statements, pgBadger, Prometheus/Grafana).
- Basic knowledge of BI/reporting tools.
