Introduction:
ACEREZ is a consortium, comprised of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy which has been appointed Preferred Network Operator by EnergyCo to design, deliver, operate and maintain the transmission line network for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ).
The new state-of-art transmission infrastructure, which will combine high-capacity transmission lines, digitally enabled energy hubs and related infrastructure, will enable generators such as solar and wind farms and energy storage providers in the CWO REZ to connect to the electricity grid, providing a reliable supply of clean, affordable electricity for households and businesses across NSW while helping to meet the state's newly legislated Net Zero targets.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Maintenance Supervisor your role will be to lead and coordinate the secondary systems maintenance teams activities of high-voltage secondary systems, ensuring safe, accurate, and cost-effective execution in alignment with ACEREZ M&L's maintenance strategies and asset performance targets. This role is critical in overseeing secondary system maintenance plans into operational delivery, supporting network reliability, regulatory compliance, and the availability of protection, control, telecommunications and automation systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position requires close coordination with Maintenance Planners, Secondary System Technicians, Secondary System Engineers, and external contractors to ensure precise execution of testing, configuration, and maintenance activities. The role also plays a key part in:
* troubleshooting complex secondary faults, supporting outage coordination, and reinforcing a high-performance safety culture across all secondary system operations.
* oversee the execution of maintenance for Protection Relays and Schemes, Control and Interlocking Systems, SCADA and RTU's, Substation Automation Systems, Communication Panels, GPS Clocks, Power Supply Systems, Human-Machine Interfaces, and Fault Recorders
* supervise, coach, and support field teams and protection technicians, promoting high standards in the maintenance of secondary systems including relays, SCADA, and communications
* ensure all maintenance activities involving protection and control systems are performed with strict adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and electrical safety protocols
* facilitate the development of technical capabilities through mentoring, hands-on training, and structured knowledge sharing from post-maintenance reviews and fault analyses
* coordinate resources, schedules, and external contractors to deliver high-quality maintenance outcomes for protection, automation, SCADA, and communication systems
Skills and Experiences:
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Certificate IV in Electrotechnology (TAFE or equivalent). Preference will be given to candidates holding a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, supported by relevant field experience.
Proven experience supervising maintenance activities related to protection relays, SCADA, and secondary systems in high-voltage substation environments, minimum 10 years preferred.
Strong understanding of HV secondary systems, including protection schemes, SCADA/RTUs, interlocking logic, DC systems, and communication protocols.
Demonstrated ability to lead field teams and contractors, ensuring compliance with EHS procedures, test plans, and regulatory standards.
Valid NSW Driver's Licence, required for mobility across field locations.
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
* Solid understanding of high-voltage (HV – 330kV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV – 500kV) transmission systems, with practical knowledge of substation secondary system architecture and maintenance.
* Skilled in conducting preventive, corrective, and condition-based testing of relays, fibre optic communication channels, and IEDs, ensuring system reliability and compliance as well as supporting root cause analysis (RCA) for maloperations, failed trips, or teleprotection communication losses
* Practical experience applying risk assessments (JSA, SWMS) and enforcing LOTO procedures in live substations during relay or control system maintenance.
