About the Role – Food Services Assistant (FSA)
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Food Services Assistant (FSA) to join the Support Services team at Kingston Centre, Heatherton.
Reporting to the Food Services Manager, you will play a key role in delivering safe, nutritious, and timely meals to patients. This role directly supports patient wellbeing by ensuring dietary requirements are met accurately while maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
* Preparing, plating, and distributing meals in line with production and clinical requirements
* Collecting meal trays from wards and service areas
* Maintaining clean, safe, and hygienic food preparation and service areas
* Operating dishwashers and food service equipment safely
* Restocking trolleys, pantries, and monitoring food stock levels
* Completing food safety, cleaning, and compliance documentation accurately
* Supporting special functions and dietary requirements as required
Working Hours
Plating Room – Monday to Wednesday
* Weeks 1, 2 & 3:
* Monday & Tuesday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
* Week 4:
* Tuesday & Wednesday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
32 hours per fortnight
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* Experience in food services, hospital, aged care, or hospitality environments
* Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
* A caring, respectful, and patient-focused approach
* Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Basic to intermediate computer skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Understanding of manual handling and workplace safety procedures
Desirable (but not essential):
* Knowledge of diet codes, texture-modified diets, food allergies, and intolerances
Mandatory Qualification
You must hold one of the following food safety certificates:
* HLTFSE001 – Follow basic food safety practices
* SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety

The Kingston Centre in Heatherton is a Monash Health facility specialising in aged care, rehabilitation, and mental health services. The site is expanding, with a new 150-bed residential aged care facility opening in 2025, offering long-term career opportunities.
