Ecological Modelling Postdoctoral Fellow
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Postdoctoral Fellow in Ecological Modelling to join an interdisciplinary team.
* About the Role:
* The successful candidate will work closely with leading academics and conservation practitioners to generate cutting-edge ecological insights that directly inform evidence-based conservation strategies.
* This position is part of two Australian Research Council projects that aim to reconstruct the timing, scale, and rate of mammal declines in Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct research on ecological traits, environmental changes, and anthropogenic pressures that have shaped historical declines and extinctions of Australian mammals.
2. Develop and apply advanced statistical and data science languages such as R or Python to analyse large datasets.
3. Work with geographic information systems and build spatially explicit models to disentangle ecological mechanisms.
4. Collaborate with international researchers from various institutions.
Requirements:
* A PhD in quantitative ecology, quantitative conservation biology, applied mathematics, or a related field.
* Prior publication record in peer-reviewed literature.
* Strong computational and analytical programming skills.
* Experience working with big data analysis and high-performance computing environments.
* Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Julia, Matlab, C#, or C++.
