Support Teacher Role
The role of a Support Teacher is to contribute to the delivery of quality educational services by assisting and supporting teachers, students and parents with learning activities and administrative duties in a collaborative school environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing supervision to small groups of students undertaking specific learning activities designed by a teacher.
* Conducting reading groups, maths groups, art activities, and sports activities, including gathering relevant resources in conjunction with teachers.
* Supervising students during break times, bus travel, sporting activities and school excursions in partnership with teachers.
* Performing administrative tasks such as typing notes and work programs for teachers, compiling class rolls, duplicating/photocopying teaching materials, collating and duplicating exam papers, recording examination results, compiling student records, checking bus lists and assisting with organizing off-site activities.
* Providing supervision to small groups of students undertaking specific learning activities designed by a teacher when the teacher is not present but available to provide guidance if needed.
* Mentoring other support staff and volunteers.
