Job Description:

dentsu creative is a global creative agency network designed to unlock exponential growth for clients. We use Transformative Creativity as a differentiating, driving force to bring our capabilities together to positively impact people, business and society. Established in 2022, dentsu creative is integrated with dentsu's Media and CXM businesses in over 145 countries and regions, to offer Integrated Growth Solutions.

As Business Director in dentsu Creative's PR team, you will lead meaningful, high impact public relations and communications work that shapes public understanding, strengthens government reputation, and drives socially positive outcomes. In this senior leadership role, you will guide clients through complex issues, develop strategic, insight‑led PR campaigns, and oversee seamless delivery across earned media, stakeholder engagement and integrated communications. You'll partner closely with media, strategy, creative and production experts to deliver work that is purposeful, newsworthy and nationally recognised. With a blend of strategic counsel, relationship management and team leadership, this role is ideal for a seasoned PR leader who thrives in fast‑moving environments and is motivated by work that creates real impact.

This 15-month fixed term contract, hybrid-based role ideally in our Brisbane office, however we are also open to candidates in Melbourne.

What you'll do

* Lead our national Government and Agribusiness/Sustainability teams, fostering excellence while shaping the direction and performance of major accounts.

* Lead major PR programs for government clients, providing strategic counsel, shaping communication strategies and driving campaign outcomes end‑to‑end.

* Act as the senior client lead and escalation point, ensuring strong relationships, clear communication, and delivery that meets brand, audience and reputation objectives.

* Oversee execution of integrated PR campaigns across earned, owned, social and influencer channels, ensuring quality, timeliness and accuracy of all outputs.

* Manage and mentor PR teams, driving accountability, capability development, workflow efficiency and consistent operational excellence.

* Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial performance across your portfolio, while identifying growth opportunities and contributing to new business pitches.

What you'll bring

* Proven agency or mixed‑environment experience delivering complex, high‑profile campaigns, ideally including government, public sector or high‑scrutiny work.

* Deep understanding of media landscapes, industry trends and stakeholder dynamics, with proven strength in earned media strategy, storytelling and reputation management.

* A confident communicator and presenter with strong executive presence, able to influence senior stakeholders and articulate PR strategies with clarity and conviction.

* A collaborative leader who mentors talent, drives team performance, and builds trusted relationships with clients, journalists, creatives and cross‑functional teams.

* Commercially sharp, highly organised and detail‑obsessed, able to manage budgets, navigate complex workloads and consistently deliver high‑quality, error‑free work.

* Experience in agribusiness and sustainability will be viewed favourably.

* Account leadership: 8–10+ years in communications/consulting; proven retention of large accounts and program growth.

Why join us

* Impact at scale: Work across nationally significant portfolios and high-visibility national campaigns, shaping the future of food, fibre sustainability and social causes.

* Real autonomy: Authority to shape programs, pitch growth, and set the team's operating rhythm.

* Great people, low drama: Supportive leaders, clear expectations, flexible working, and a high-trust culture.

What's in it for you:

* The opportunity to give back with dedicated volunteer leave and our whole-company event, One Day for Change

* Career Development and Learning & Development opportunities, including access to our global online dentsu University

* Hybrid working & real flexibility
