Overview
The Queensland Indigenous Business Network (QIBN) is the state-wide representative body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Queensland. As the Indigenous business sector matures, QIBN is entering a critical new chapter. We are seeking a bold, future-focused Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through a period of increasing responsibility, opportunity and impact, including the significant economic and procurement opportunities emerging in the next ten years.

To perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. This is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
About QIBN
QIBN is the state-wide representative body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses in Queensland. We exist to advance Indigenous economic development by:
* delivering business support services that help businesses grow and mature
* facilitating meaningful connections with government and industry, particularly through procurement
* promoting Indigenous businesses at state, national and global levels
QIBN plays a critical role in strengthening Indigenous economic participation and creating long-term, sustainable opportunities for First Nations businesses across Queensland.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer provides strategic, cultural and operational leadership to QIBN and is accountable for the organisation\'s growth, sustainability and impact.
The CEO leads a geographically dispersed team and oversees QIBN\'s Indigenous Business Support Hubs across Queensland. This role requires confident leadership in complex environments and the ability to represent Indigenous business interests at senior levels across government, industry and the broader economy.
This is a state-wide leadership role with real consequence and influence.
Key Responsibilities
* Embed cultural integrity, transparency and First Nations ways of working across the organisation.
* Uphold cultural protocols and lead respectful engagement with communities, members, partners and staff.
Executive Leadership & Strategy
* Work with the Board to develop and deliver QIBN\'s Strategic and Business Plans.
* Lead organisation-wide planning, performance and reporting frameworks.
* Ensure strong governance, fiscal leadership and financial sustainability.
* Diversify revenue through grants, partnerships and commercial opportunities.
External Relations & Profile Building
* Represent QIBN publicly to strengthen profile, influence and sector standing.
* Oversee marketing, communications and public relations.
Corporate & Philanthropic Growth
* Build and lead high-value corporate, philanthropic and strategic partnerships.
* Negotiate major funding and sponsorship agreements.
Governance, Quality & Safety
* Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, policies and WHS obligations.
* Maintain a safe, ethical and high-performing workplace.
Skills & Experience
* Qualifications in business administration or a related field (required).
* Demonstrated experience at CEO or senior executive level (5+ years)
* Proven experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
* Strong executive-level business, financial and governance capability.
* Demonstrated success working with Boards and diverse stakeholders.
* Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
