About the role
The Senior Pharmacist - Drug Error Reduction Software (DERS) is responsible for the maintenance and updates of the smart infusion pumps drug library and related drug error reduction software for NALHN and will work collaboratively with other Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) pharmacists in NALHN Pharmacy and wider multi-disciplinary teams in accordance with NALHN and SA Pharmacy policies and procedures.
In this pivotal role, you will drive the optimisation of patient outcomes by implementing strategies that promote the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to service improvement, support evidence-based practice and ensure the highest standards of medication management. Your expertise, leadership and commitment to quality use of medicines will directly enhance patient safety and the overall standard of care delivered across the hospital.
About You
You are an experienced hospital pharmacist and confident clinical leader who is committed to delivering safe, evidence-based and patient-centred pharmacy services within a complex healthcare environment.
* Qualified and registered professional – Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Board of Australia. Professionally and technically competent in hospital pharmacy practice, with comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes of practice and professional standards.
* Strong communicator and clinical collaborator – Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, medical, nursing and allied health staff. Demonstrated capacity to work independently and contribute meaningfully within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
* Strategic thinker and problem solver – Proven ability to undertake research, analyse and interpret data, apply sound judgement and develop practical solutions within a complex environment. Highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of meeting tight deadlines with accuracy.
* Experienced leader and mentor – Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, including leadership, supervisory or management experience. Demonstrated ability to guide, educate and support professional and non-professional staff, and to lead initiatives that improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
