Primary objective
To enable the delivery of hospitality and ceremonial activities through the provision of quality service delivery and support.
Context statement
Protocol NT plays a key role in enhancing the reputation of the Northern Territory and its stakeholders through facilitating the
interaction of Northern Territory Government officials with a broad range of local, national, and international protocol and
ceremonial requirements. The Protocol NT team often work extended hours, including weekends and evenings to support the
arranged activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate and manage the procurement of goods and services i.e., event beverage requirements, official gifts, flags, laundry
services, framing and engraving services, floral arrangements, and general office requirements.
2. The physical set up and pack down of official receptions and other key events as directed.
3. Co-ordination of the delivery and movement of goods and other items, which involves some heavy lifting.
4. Assist with the successful delivery of events through working with external hospitality staff to ensure service excellence.
5. Day to day management of the ministerial gifts register ensuring declared gifts are registered in a timely manner with attention
to detail.
6. Provide high quality administrative services in a confidential environment with changing priorities.
7. Preparation of monthly finance, stock management and other task related reporting requirements.
8. Provide information and advice to ministerial staff and the public relating to Protocol NT activities.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in hospitality or event management and the capacity to perform physical work involving lifting and bending
daily during non-standard business hours including after work and during weekends.
2. Excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects while working under tight
timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
3. High level computer literacy and well-developed written and oral communication skills.
4. A self-motivated individual who can remain calm in high-pressure situations with the ability to work as part of a small team.
1. A demonstrated work history of reliability, punctuality and able to prioritise their workload to execute tasks in an efficient and
timely manner.
1. Sound knowledge and appreciation of the role and purpose of Protocol NT with a proven ability to maintain confidentiality
and able to work with discretion.
7. A demonstrated knowledge of government procurement guidelines and practices, and experience in financial processing and
reporting.
8. Sound level of understanding of the diversity of cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
9. Hold a current First Aid certificate and a Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
