Job Summary:
This role leads, implements, and maintains global construction field welding programs and provides specialized welding engineering support. You will manage, inspect, and monitor the welding test lab, rod room, weld heat treatment program, and laboratory quality plan. Your technical advice ensures defects, behaviors, and other issues are rectified prior to final inspection.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Implements and maintains Bechtel Field Welding program, may also be assigned as Lead Field Welding Engineer on large projects.
2. Provides specialized welding engineering support for construction to ensure it meets all code, client/engineering specifications, and Bechtel procedures and standards.
3. Assists in managing the pre- and post-weld heat treatment program.
4. Assists in managing the rod room and rod room attendant to ensure all weld filler materials meet Bechtel, Code, and Client requirements.
5. Maintains and implements Bechtel's Nondestructive Examination Qualification and Certification of NDE personnel (NEPQ).
6. Implements Bechtel's Welding Program in relation to requirements of various GBUs.
7. Prepares, develops, and qualifies NDE procedures, which also includes specialized NDE procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
* NDE Level III Associate's degree in engineering/science study from a 2-year technical college or university preferred plus 8 years' experience or 12 years' combined industry experience with NDE methods, writing procedures, and providing training.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Must have Bechtel Level II VT and RT Certifications – Advanced qualifications, training, and experience that meet AS/NZS standards.
* Must have one of the following: IS diploma / Weld Australia (WTIA cert) / NZ IW cert / WS Cert AS1796 No.10, other approved qualification – Advanced.
* Mandatory Requirement: Advanced knowledge on applicable codes and standards – ASME B31.3 and AS 2885.
* Office Automation Skills – Microsoft Word - Intermediate Microsoft Excel – Intermediate Piping Skills - Piping Design Drawings/Specifications / TEAMWorks/WITS.
* Intermediate/Advanced Technical / Practical Welding Knowledge - SMAW / GTAW / GMAW / FCAW.
* Advanced Preheat / Post Weld Heat Treatment.
* Working Knowledge of equipment and consumables.
* Able to work night shift and day shift when business needs arise.
* Able to manage and support welding activities at night shift independently.
* Worked 8 years plus in Energy or Oil & Gas construction projects.
