Our client is a vertically integrated agricultural commodities business with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities on the east coast of Australia, sourcing domestically grown produce to create world class commodities. They operate within domestic and export markets and have a number of exciting growth opportunities for their business portfolio that offers a diverse pathway for their commodity trading team.
The Position
Working closely with the Commodity Manager, the Commodity Trader will play a key role in developing and implementing the commodity strategy for the business. You will be involved in the acquisition, trading and merchandising of products as part of a connected business unit.
Key components of this role include negotiating trades, strategy development, pricing, future and FX hedging, commodity position management and optimisation of execution and risk management. You will be given the ability to drive and ‘own’ your portfolio, bringing in your enthusiasm and energy for the industry to ensure you and our client are mutually successful.
The Person
To be successful in this role, you will have 3+ years experience working in a commodity trading environment, ideally exposure across trading, logistics, risk or supply chain functions. Experience within the grains and oilseed industry would be beneficial, however experience trading or buying commodities across other soft commodities industry would be suitable.
You will be extremely driven and focussed on achieving results, whilst being a strong team person. – and enjoy working in a team environment. You will be able to lead from the front and be willing and capable of communicating effectively at all levels within the industry.
