We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our waste-energy development and manufacturing client. As an HSE Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices across our offices, sites & manufacturing facility across Australia. You will play a critical role in identifying and mitigating potential risks, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.
**Responsibilities**:
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve HSE-related concerns and non-conformities.
- Monitor changes in HSE regulations and standards, and proactively implement necessary updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential risks and develop appropriate control measures.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams in implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
- Track and analyze HSE-related data, including leading and lagging indicators, to identify trends and implement preventive measures.
- Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote a strong safety culture through regular communication, awareness campaigns, and toolbox talks.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure that all employees receive appropriate safety training and certifications.
- Maintain and update HSE documentation, including training materials, procedures, and records.
- Emergency Preparedness and Response:
- Develop emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and incident management protocols.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans.
- Provide guidance during emergency situations, ensuring the safety of personnel and minimizing potential environmental impact.
- Coordinate with external agencies, such as emergency services and regulatory bodies, as necessary.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Lead and participate in HSE-related investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance safety, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact.
- Engage employees at all levels to foster a proactive approach to HSE and encourage suggestions for improvement.
- Monitor and report on HSE performance, providing regular updates to management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Qualification and or certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an HSE Advisor or a similar role in Construction, Mining or Renewable Energy
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal HSE regulations and standards.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation techniques, and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate HSE concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop data-driven recommendations.
- Proactive approach with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
