About the Role
Swinburne’s Department of Civil and Construction Engineering is seeking an experienced and innovative academic to join the team and undertake teaching and research activities in areas related to sustainable civil infrastructure and digital construction engineering, including fields related to construction management and engineering, construction materials, and digital and transport engineering.

The role involves teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The ideal candidate will have experience in areas such as construction technology, digital construction, BIM and transport modelling, data analytics, machine learning, modelling, design, asset management, remote sensing or digital mapping. The focus application areas may include smart infrastructure including intelligent transport systems, construction, renewable energy infrastructure, and lifelines. In addition to teaching, you will also provide mentoring and supervision of higher degree research students.

In research, you will work in a collaborative team to develop new areas of research and contribute to the University’s research excellence and impact in partnership with external partners. Through your research and teaching, you will make original and innovative contributions to the advancement of future urban infrastructure and development of disruptive interventions and technologies that will enable step-changes in emerging and future civil engineering practices.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

- Demonstrated ability, relative to opportunity, to undertake teaching and associated academic duties at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Strong academic and research leadership experience with the ability to undertake teaching, associated administrative duties, management and curriculum development at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required for Level D.
- Demonstrated track record, relative to opportunity, in quality publications related to construction engineering, smart urban infrastructure or digital engineering, and attracting and managing competitive research grants or direct industry funding (Level C).
- Strong nationally and/or internationally recognised track record of research and consultancy as evidenced by an extensive range of publications in discipline top-tier journals, a record of initiating, obtaining and managing competitive research grants (Level D).
- Demonstrated links with relevant industries, organisations and research communities.
- Demonstrated experience in research student supervision (Level C) with a track record of successful supervision of HDR candidates, particularly supervision to completion (Level D).

Qualifications

- An earned doctoral qualification in Civil or Construction Engineering or a related field (Essential)
- A teaching qualification (Preferred)
- Membership of an appropriate professional body (Preferred)
