The Council is looking for a dedicated Water Truck Driver to work within the Assets and Open Space Services Department. This position is vital for performing water truck operations in a competent, safe, and effective way to serve the community. You will report to the Supervisor Operations – Parks Grounds Maintenance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities fall into two categories: Service Delivery and Vehicle/Plant Management.
1. Service Delivery
Your core function is to provide essential watering services:
- Perform site watering for various civil construction and maintenance activities.
- Service areas for landscape maintenance (Parks), including hand watering, establishment watering, and liquid fertiliser applications, ensuring specified time frames and standards are met.
2. Vehicle/Plant Management & Safety
You are responsible for the safe operation and care of the equipment:
- Operate relevant plant and equipment appropriately and ensure assets are secured when not in use.
- Conduct daily checks, basic maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of the vehicle.
- Report all vehicle defects according to Council requirements.
- Correctly use and maintain all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and plant according to safety policies and manufacturer's instructions.

Must be experienced, reliable, and possess the following:
Knowledge & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in water truck operations and supporting plant in various environments.
- Proven ability to safely load and drive trucks, with an awareness of road rules and load restraint regulations.
- Sound time management skills and the ability to monitor your own work activities to meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
- Experience in undertaking manual tasks safely.
- Ability to work constructively as part of the broader department.
Essential Qualifications
- Current HR Class Driver's Licence.
- Construction Induction Card (White Card) competency, used or obtained within the past 2 years.
