About the Opportunity As an Emergency Roadside Assistance Patrol, you will report into the Metro Area Manager and your tasks will range from making member vehicles mobile at the roadside, changing tyres, providing battery, providing mechanical advice, and / or promoting member services. This role will cover areas across Metro Melbourne and surrounding areas.
Please note: This role will be commencing on the 13th of July 2026, and if successful, you will be required to attend two weeks of comprehensive training provided at our Noble Park office.
Key responsibilities
Provide face to face emergency roadside assistance to RACV members and customers in-line with operating standards and procedures.
Work independently in a remote work environment with minimal supervision.
Respond to member requests for assistance by demonstrating ‘RACV Service Counts’ behaviours.
Effective incident management by identifying the most appropriate service or benefit that best meets the member’s needs. This includes conducting technical analysis of the motor vehicle, providing the member with choices and arranging secondary services when required.
Efficient vehicle fault diagnosis to maximise the number of vehicles made mobile at the first point of contact.
What you’ll bring
Qualified Mechanic or Auto Electrician, or extensive mechanical aptitude or background.
Experience in electrical and mechanical vehicle fault diagnosis.
Experience in building relationships across a customer service organisation.
Ability to communicate effectively and be customer service focused.
Experience in working in similar OH&S environment, adhering and complying to OH&S policies and procedures.
Competent in using technology such as smart phone, tablets and emails and relevant business applications.
Physically fit to conduct manual handling tasks e.g. wheel change and replace batteries.
Full and current Australian C Class driver's licence with a safe driving record.
Successful appointment to this position will require full medical including drug and alcohol testing.
Requirement to lift heavy items (e.g. tyres, batteries) up to 30 kg.
Rotating roster (9 hour shifts) with a mixture of morning and afternoon shifts (latest shift concluding at 12:30 am).

Pre‑Employment Requirements
Drug and alcohol screening, conducted in accordance with applicable RACV policies/procedures/standards, and legislative requirements for safety‑sensitive roles.
A functional medical assessment to evaluate fitness for work, including the ability to perform the inherent requirements of the position as outlined in the Job Task Analysis – Patrol.
A criminal records check, with consideration given to the relevance of any findings to the position; and verification of eligibility to work in Australia.
These assessments are conducted to meet RACV’s workplace health and safety. Additional assessments may be required before commencement and throughout employment.
