About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Support Systems Engineer to join our Combat Systems & Integration Function based at Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney reporting to the Support System Lead.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for working with other members of the Support System Team, under direction and in support of the Support System Lead. They will also work with the other project design (software, hardware, mechanical, etc.) Engineers to ensure a systems orientated, integrated approach to the project engineering development and verification activities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertake engineering activities within own competence without day-to-day guidance or supervision, including liaison with customers and suppliers as appropriate
* Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
* Provide help and direction to less experienced team members
* Manage own elements of Engineering work package
* Take responsibility for contributing to team planning, risk management, product safety, quality and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
* Set targets for and manage own development with line manager
* Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve own practices. Be aware of and contribute to relevant BAE Systems Australia engineering communities of interest
About YOU
* Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
* Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1 clearance
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering or relevant field is considered desirable
* Prior Systems Engineering experience is considered advantageous
