OverviewWe're looking for a Manager, Model Risk to join our team in a newly created role.
Model Risk is responsible for independently validating models across Westpac Group and supporting second line of defence activities.ResponsibilitiesLead validation projects for retail and non-retail credit risk models including IRB, scorecards, provisioning, stress testing, and economic capital and play a key role in upcoming Basel III changes.Present validation outcomes to model owners, committees, and senior stakeholders, while contributing to process improvements and coaching junior team members.Take ownership of validation projects, manage internal stakeholders, and help strengthen our model risk infrastructure.Lead validation projects and drive improvements across Westpac Group with a focus on quality and risk mitigation.Role detailsThis is a full-time 12-month fixed term role based in Sydney with flexible hybrid working arrangements available.What do I need?
QualificationsExperience in credit risk modelling or model validation, including IRB, provisioning, and scorecards; familiarity with stress testing and economic capital is a plusStrong academic background in actuarial, statistics, econometrics, or a related quantitative disciplineAbility to clearly communicate complex concepts and influence stakeholders across all levelsAdvanced skills in SAS, R, SQL, Excel, and Word; familiarity with Python, Git, Jupyter, or Spark is an advantageProven ability to lead validation projects, coach others, and contribute to process improvementsA proactive mindset with strong delivery focus and relationship-building skillsWhy join us?
