Your new role
As a Senior Finance Officer, you will work under broad direction to manage day-to-day financial operations and provide expert advice on a wide range of financial matters. You'll supervise junior staff, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with government frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
* Oversee accounts payable, receivable, purchasing, travel, taxation, and month-end processing.
* Prepare financial reports, budgets, and statutory reporting.
* Reconcile capital projects, lease accounting, and asset valuations.
* Manage cash flow and appropriation processes.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Mentor and guide junior team members.
What you'll need to succeed
* Strong financial knowledge and experience in reporting, compliance, and budget preparation.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgement.
* Understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
* Relevant qualifications in finance or accounting will be highly regarded.
