About the Position

As the Senior Lecturer in Problem-Based Learning (PBL), you will be responsible for providing academic leadership in the design, facilitation, and evaluation of PBL across the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at CDU. A central focus of the role is embedding cultural safety, First Nations health, and NT-specific clinical contexts into teaching, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for practice in diverse and often under-served communities. The position requires strong expertise in student-centered learning approaches, case design, and small group facilitation, as well as a commitment to innovation and equity in medical education. The Senior Lecturer will also contribute to curriculum development, assessment, research, and scholarship in medical education.

The CDU Menzies Medical Program is a 5-year undergraduate entry MD course with 5 themes running concurrently: Patient Care, Health in the Community, First Nations Culture and Health, Personal and Professional Development, and the Scientific Basis of Medicine. The medical program has a strong focus on First Nations health and wellbeing, remote and rural medicine, rural generalism, and the provision of high-quality, interdisciplinary team-based regional and remote health services.

About You

To be successful, you will require:

- A doctoral qualification (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant health or medical discipline, or equivalent professional/educational experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in medical education, with a focus on small group, problem-based, or case-based learning.
- Experience in curriculum design, case writing, and assessment in medical/health professions education.
- Evidence of scholarly activity, research, or publication in medical/health education.
- Commitment to student-centered learning, cultural safety, and inclusive education.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
- Fellowship or recognition in health professions education (e.g., ANZAHPE, AMEE, Advance HE).
- Experience with program accreditation (AMC or equivalent).
- Evidence of innovation in PBL pedagogy or integration with clinical teaching.
- Experience embedding First Nations health and cultural safety into medical curriculum
