About Us
At the intersection of health, science, and sustainability — Eclipse Ingredients is an impact-driven biotech ingredients startup based in Brisbane, Australia. Our mission is to develop cutting-edge bioactive and functional ingredients that promote better health and well-being, focusing on the personal care, cosmetics, and food and beverage sectors.
Backed by science and driven by a commitment to positive health outcomes and environmental sustainability, we're revolutionising the ingredients industry with high-performance, planet-friendly alternatives to traditional materials.
As we prepare to launch our first product to market, we're looking for an experienced and driven Head of Business Development to build and execute our go-to-market strategy and secure our first commercial partnerships.
Our vision is bold, and we're looking for someone with the passion and tenacity to match it—someone who thrives in a challenging environment, views setbacks as stepping stones, and has the ambition to drive success in the face of obstacles. This is a rewarding, high-impact role for someone ready to make a real difference, grow with us, and help shape the future of health and wellbeing.
About the Role
As the Head of Business Development, you will be a core member of the leadership team, responsible for driving all aspects of the commercial function. From developing systems and strategies to generating leads, closing deals, and managing key accounts, you’ll work closely with the CEO to shape and execute the company’s growth strategy. You will take full ownership of the business development lifecycle and play a critical role in the company’s growth trajectory while collaborating with the leadership team to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and long-term goals.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the executive team to develop and implement a comprehensive sales and business development strategy aligned with company goals.
* Design scalable systems and processes to support business development and sales operations from the ground up.
* Conduct market and competitive landscape mapping to identify key application areas for the company’s technology and help define the optimal product–market fit.
* Collaborate with the CEO and technical team to prioritise initial product opportunities.
* Support go-to-market planning, including segmentation, positioning, and value proposition development for early products.
* Identify, qualify, and nurture leads across target markets, with a strong focus on B2B customers, including multinational corporations.
* Build and maintain a strategic pipeline of potential partners and clients.
Customer Engagement & Sales
* Work closely with the CEO to develop and refine compelling sales materials, presentations, and messaging tailored to various industry stakeholders.
* Take the lead in setting up and coordinating strategic sales meetings, ensuring the CEO is fully supported and positioned for success.
* Support the CEO in commercial negotiations and follow-ups to help convert opportunities into signed agreements.
Market and Communication
* Build and grow the company’s presence in APAC markets, particularly Japan, China, and South Korea.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (where relevant) to create marketing content, technical brochures, case studies, and messaging frameworks that support sales efforts.
* Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and in-client meetings (virtually or in person).
* Work cross-functionally with the technical team and relevant partners to ensure alignment on commercial goals.
* Provide input on market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscape to inform product development.
About You (our ideal candidate)
* Deep understanding of the personal care and cosmetics industry — with a strong existing network or experience building one, particularly in APAC markets. (Experience in food & beverage or functional ingredients is a bonus.)
* 10+ years’ experience in B2B sales and business development, ideally working with large multinationals.
* Strong knowledge of the APAC region (especially Japan, China, and South Korea), with a proven ability to navigate these markets — ideally within personal care and cosmetics.
* Hands-on experience launching a new product or ingredient into the APAC region, including identifying product–market fit and executing go-to-market strategies.
* Confident leading the full sales lifecycle — from building and shaping commercial strategy to closing deals.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills — you know how to connect with people and build trust.
* Comfortable in a startup environment – agile, proactive, hands-on, and able to thrive in ambiguity.
* Based in Brisbane, Australia or embedded within one of our target markets, with the ability to work remotely and travel when needed.
* Qualifications in marketing or business are a bonus.
What We Offer
* A unique opportunity to join an early-stage startup on the ground floor and help shape its commercial future.
* Flexibility to work remotely or from our Brisbane office. If you're based elsewhere, we’ll fly you to HQ once or twice a year for meaningful team catch-ups and strategic planning.
* Collaborative, mission-driven team passionate about health, sustainability and innovation.
* Competitive remuneration package with performance incentives.
