Position Title: Community Education Project Officer

Department: Family Violence Prevention Legal Service (FVPLS) Program

Reports To: Principal Solicitor

Direct Reports: Nil

Key Internal Working Relationships:Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Principal Solicitor, Family Violence Prevention Legal Service (FVPLS) and Southern Aboriginal Corporation (SAC) Employees

Key External Working Relationships:Community members and organisations in the region of SAC and prospective FVPLS clients

Location: This position is based in Albany and will require travel within the Great Southern, Wheatbelt and South West regions.

36.5 hours per week

Duration of contract:

Fixed Term, ends 30 June 2027

This position is supported by grant funding, and as such, it is contingent upon the grant's continuation. Should the grant funding be reduced or terminated, the position may be subject to change, reduction in hours, or termination.

Wages:

In line with Level 3 of the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010including, the option to salary sacrifice.

Superannuation guarantee paid as legislated (currently 12.0%).

About the Role


The Community Education Project Officer (CEPO) coordinates the delivery of Community Education and awareness programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members for the FVPLS unit. This is a broad role and will suit a person interested in varied and challenging work within a dynamic unit. The position is responsible for a range of activities that facilitate the creation, implementation and delivery of legal awareness and wellbeing education around family violence and sexual assault. The project officer will work with the legal team to co-ordinate the delivery of Community Legal Education (CLE). The Project Officer will work towards developing early intervention resources and activities and co-ordinate their delivery across the Great-Southern, Southwest and Wheatbelt with support from the FVPLS staff. The role will also design, develop and implement education evaluation plans.

Professional development training will be offered as part of the role.


About You


We are seeking a motivated and committed person that essentially has:

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people.
* Relevant qualifications and/or experience in education or community services or social science and experience in delivering education programs to a wide range of stakeholders.
* Strong administrative and organisational skills, including proven skills in research, analysis, planning and time management.
* Ability to develop and maintain productive, effective working relationships with stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills to include both written and verbal with experience representing an organisation in a variety of forums e.g. community and Government.
* Competent and experienced using Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and the ability to setup audio visual equipment.
* Willingness and ability to travel within the Great Southern, Wheatbelt and Southwest regions.

And desirably has:

* Knowledge and understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity and Occupational Health & Safety principles.
* Ability to read and understand legal research, interpret it and present it to a community audience.
* Ability to read and understand mental health, wellness and healing research and present it to a community audience.

Mandatory

You must be prepared to undergo:

* A Prior Offender History Check.
* A Working with Children Check.

And have:

* A current WA Driver's License
