Overview
The Tasting Room Sales Associate plays a key role in welcoming guests to The Lane Vineyard and delivering premium, in-person wine experiences. This role focuses on guided tastings, hosting our estate experiences, and driving wine sales and Gathering Club memberships through warm, informed conversation.
Working under the Tasting Room Supervisor, this position is dedicated to the Tasting Room and is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, loves talking about wine, and feels comfortable in a sales-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Guest Experience: Welcome guests warmly and provide engaging, informative wine tastings.
* Wine Experiences: Host interactive experiences such as Blend Your Own Wine, Cellar Experience & Winery Tour, Gathering Experience and picnics, ensuring a polished and professional delivery.
* Sales: Convert tastings into in-person wine sales, promote curated packs and seasonal offers, and encourage Gathering Club sign-ups.
* Product Knowledge: Develop strong knowledge of The Lane's wines, history, vineyard and winemaking philosophy, and confidently share this with guests.
* Tasting Room Presentation: Assist with set-up and pack-down, ensuring the Tasting Room and surrounding areas are clean, well-presented and prepared for service.
* Stock & Service Support: Support stock rotation, restocking and merchandising, polish glassware and assist with general service tasks.
* Events & Trade Support: Assist with group tastings, VIP visits and trade or media tastings as directed by the Tasting Room Supervisor or Venue Manager.
* Offsite Tastings & Events: Support occasional offsite tastings, activations and events with key brand partners, retailers or tourism partners, representing The Lane professionally.
* Compliance: Follow RSA requirements and uphold all health, safety and licensing regulations.
Qualifications
* Previous cellar door, wine retail or premium hospitality experience highly regarded.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a warm, engaging style.
* Genuine interest in wine and eagerness to learn about our wines and experiences.
* Comfortable working in a sales-focused role and talking confidently with guests.
* Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays.
* Strong attention to detail and pride in personal and venue presentation.
* Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues.
* Current RSA certification (or willingness to obtain).
