Details: Infrastructure Canberra (iCBR) invites applications for the role of Assistant Director, Governance and Quality Management within the Governance, Audit and Risk section of the Chief Operating Officer branch. This role contributes materially to the stewardship, coherence and maturity of iCBR’s governance, assurance and accountability frameworks within a complex public sector operating environment.
The Assistant Director, Governance and Quality Management undertakes a significant coordination and oversight responsibilities across governance, integrity, audit, quality management and performance reporting domains. The role requires the application of sophisticated professional judgement to manage ambiguity, navigate intersecting legislative and policy obligations, and support executive decision‑making through high‑quality advice, documentation and assurance processes.
The position operates across multiple lines of governance accountability and undertakes the structured orchestration of internal control activities, reporting mechanisms, committee support and policy architecture. Depending on business priorities, the role may emphasise governance and integrity functions, or governance, quality management and performance reporting. Direct supervision of staff may be required.
Eligibility requirements
Appointment is subject to the successful applicant having and maintaining eligibility to work in Australia and complying with the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct, ACTPS Values and all applicable legislation, policies and directions. The role may require access to sensitive information and the successful applicant may therefore be required to undergo and maintain appropriate pre‑employment screening or probity checks, with ongoing engagement subject to satisfactory outcomes. Flexible working arrangements are available but are subject to operational requirements, and attendance at the Canberra city workplace may be required as directed.
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2026, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
