Software Engineer (OBP)
Join a major enterprise engineering team working on large scale lending and origination platforms across digital, lender and broker channels. This is a hands on backend engineering role where you'll develop deep Java and OBP capability while contributing to critical transformation projects within a highly collaborative Agile environment.
This is a full time permanent role based at the Surfers Paradise Engineering Tech Hub with 2 to 3 days per week in the office.
What you'll be doing
Hands on backend engineering across lending and origination platforms
Growing into a backend Java OBP specialist
Designing, building and testing backend services under guidance from senior engineers
Collaborating with cross functional teams to interpret requirements and deliver high quality outcomes
Producing documentation including diagrams, flowcharts and code level detail
Participating in Agile ceremonies and contributing to sprint planning and delivery
Supporting troubleshooting and issue investigation using tools like SQL Developer and Splunk
Learning and applying engineering standards, tools and best practices
What you'll bring
2 to 5 years of engineering experience
Good commercial or academic Java experience
Familiarity with REST APIs, Microservices and backend integration patterns
Basic understanding of SQL and Oracle databases
Exposure to SOAP, XML, JSON and web service concepts
Experience with OBP is ideal
If no OBP, middleware experience is required
Interest in Jira, Confluence, BitBucket and CI / CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins)
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset
Enthusiasm for learning and developing in a complex enterprise environment
Hiring process
Stage 1 : 1 hour Codility test completed at home
Stage 2 : 1 hour technical interview with deep dives into your projects and scenario based questions
Final stage : 30 min behavioural interview with a senior leader covering motivation for the role, interest in the team's work and commitment to office days
