Ochre Imprints is seeking a Senior Heritage Advisor to lead complex Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs), manage large-scale field programs, and work directly with Registered Aboriginal Parties to achieve meaningful outcomes across Country.
This is a genuinely senior role with end-to-end project ownership — from fieldwork through to approvals — supported by an experienced and highly regarded leadership team.
Candidates must have existing Australian work rights, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
What you'll be doing
Lead the preparation and delivery of Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs) for major projects across Victoria
Plan and manage complex archaeological field programs, including survey, subsurface testing and excavation
Supervise and support field teams in dynamic and often remote environments
Undertake RAP consultation and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and clients
Manage project timelines, deliverables and approvals processes with First Peoples – State Relations
Prepare high-quality technical reports and heritage assessments
Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a strong and collaborative team culture
Contribute to improving archaeological methods, recording standards and internal systems
What we're looking for
Listed Heritage Advisor/Archaeologist with First Peoples – State Relations (mandatory)
Approximately 5–7+ years' experience in Aboriginal cultural heritage consulting in Victoria
Demonstrated experience delivering CHMPs for infrastructure, energy or land development projects
Strong field experience across survey, subsurface testing and excavation
Proven ability to manage projects, clients and RAP engagement
High-level report writing and technical skills
Strong working knowledge of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Heritage Act 2017
Relevant degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or similar (Honours preferred)
Full Victorian driver's licence, White Card and current First Aid
