Humanities Teacher (Middle Years) & IB Global Politics
Melbourne Montessori College is seeking an engaging, student-centred Humanities Teacher with the capability to also teach IB Global Politics. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive, values-driven school that fosters independence, critical thinking, global awareness and purposeful learning.
You will work with Middle Years students (Years 7–10) to deliver dynamic Humanities programs—particularly History, Geography, and Civics & Citizenship—while contributing to our growing International Baccalaureate pathway through the delivery of high-quality IB Global Politics in the senior years.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-led Humanities learning experiences aligned with the Australian Curriculum and Montessori principles.
* Teach IB Global Politics with a strong understanding of the IB Diploma Programme philosophy and assessment practices.
* Create a classroom environment that nurtures independence, respect, collaboration and academic rigour.
* Use formative and summative assessment to track student progress and inform practice.
* Contribute to the development of cross-curricular, interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
* Maintain clear communication with students, families and colleagues.
* Participate in school events, professional learning, camps and co-curricular programs.
About You
* Current Victorian Teacher Registration (VIT).
* Qualifications in Humanities education; postgraduate qualifications an advantage.
* Experience teaching Middle Years students and confidence delivering content across History, Geography and Civics.
* IB training or experience in Global Politics (or willingness to undertake training).
* Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-led learning approaches.
* Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
