We are seeking a temporary, flexible full-time Court Liaison Officer (CLO) to work with Child Safety Service Centres, Youth Justice Service Centres, and other stakeholders. The role involves facilitating case work and planning for clients under the Youth Justice Act 1992.
Position Details
The role is based within Statewide Operations, reporting to a Senior Court Liaison Officer, Court Services. Some intrastate travel is required. For further information and assessment criteria, please refer to the attached Role Profile.
Mandatory Requirements
You must possess a "C" class driver's licence to undertake travel.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Collect and collate relevant child protection information, attend Court, and provide authoritative advice on child safety interventions and available support services for young persons under the Youth Justice Act 1992.
Act as the primary contact for sharing child protection information with stakeholders, including Courts, legal representatives, police, and community organizations.
Participate in rostered service delivery for Saturday and public holiday court appearances.
Support young people before, during, and after Court to promote understanding of Court processes.
Maintain detailed case records and ensure data systems enable court tracking and trend analysis.
Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide direct casework services as negotiated.
Delegations
The position holds statutory delegation under section 13 of the Child Protection Act 1999, including guardianship and information sharing related to child safety interventions under the Youth Justice Act 1992.
Technical Skills and Experience
Awareness of the impacts of philosophies, policies, and practices on child protection, especially concerning Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Experience working with young people, providing integrated responses, and collaborating with stakeholders in a court setting.
Ability to negotiate, advocate, and provide advice to support coordinated services for children under intervention.
This role aligns with the Queensland Public Service Leadership competencies. Demonstrated capability in these areas is required.
The position reports to the Senior Court Liaison Officer. Applications remain current for 12 months.
