Casual Correctional Officer
About the Position:
* Community safety is ensured by officers who contribute to assisting offenders in finding paths for improvement in their lives. They supervise inmates in correctional facilities, including prisons and court cells throughout New South Wales.
Main Responsibilities:
* Legislation, CSNSW, and DCJ policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safety, well-being, security, and rehabilitation of inmates by carrying out daily tasks and duties.
* Daily accountability routines including muster, head checks, ongoing observation of offenders are performed.
* Conduct searches and other detection activities to find and remove contraband from the facility or court complex, and to monitor offenders, boosting security and safety for everyone.
* Inmates' requests for services or escalating them if needed are managed.
* Offender activities in designated work, living, or approved zones are supervised, ensuring everything runs in accordance with fairness, equity, and efficient safe practice principles.
Requirements:
* Minimum age requirement is 18 years old.
* A current Drivers Licence is required.
* An Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident is necessary.
* Willigness to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice is expected.
* Meeting medical standards to be a correctional officer and having a reasonable level of fitness are required.
* Body art or modifications on the face, scalp, ears, neck, or hands are prohibited.
