Job Description
As a Senior Counsel, you will play a vital role in supporting our growing operations in Australia. This is an exceptional opportunity for a mid- to senior-level legal professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys variety in their work.
You will act as the go-to legal advisor in Australia, partnering closely with business teams to drive growth, ensure compliance, and navigate the evolving regulatory landscape.
* Commercial Contracting & Business Enablement (40%)
You will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements that support sales, business development, and operations.
* Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to go-to-market teams, helping close deals efficiently while managing risk
* Maintain and improve contract templates and negotiation playbooks to enable scale and consistency
* Review marketing and proposal materials for legal accuracy and alignment with company standards
* Privacy, Employment & Governance Support (30%)
You will guide local compliance with Australian privacy laws and lead implementation of data protection policies, including those related to AI use.
* Advise HR on employment contracts, workplace policies, investigations, and dispute resolution
* Support corporate governance activities including board meeting preparation, entity maintenance, and regulatory filings
* Legal Integration & Risk Management (20%)
You will advise on legal matters related to the ongoing integration of our Australian entities, including IP, cross-border compliance, and intercompany structuring.
* Act as the primary legal point of contact in Australia, ensuring timely response to local business needs while staying strategically aligned with U.S. legal leadership
* General Legal Advisory (10%)
You will provide holistic legal support to teams across the Australian business, monitor evolving legal and regulatory trends in clean tech and SaaS, and coordinate with external counsel when specialized input is needed.
Requirements
* A Law degree and admission to practice in Australia
* At least 5–7 years of relevant legal experience, including time in-house
* Deep familiarity with Australian commercial and corporate law
* Demonstrated success supporting business development and sales teams with contract negotiations
* Experience handling corporate matters like M&A, governance, and compliance
