The Role
In the role of Project Coordinator / Architect, you will collaborate with the wider project team for the design and documentation of architectural projects. You will create construction documentation of the building and assist in coordination with the consultant team to address the client brief and satisfy HDR objectives.
Key Accountabilities Design Philosophy & Leadership
* Coordinate the architectural design process, develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics to communicate concepts effectively.
* Produce study models, renderings, montages, diagrams and presentations, including image boards, to clearly communicate design intent.
* Demonstrate understanding of national and international design precedents, applying best practice, innovation and considered design response.
* Contribute to early‐stage project processes through design brief development, site analysis and information gathering to support project direction and deliverables.
* Display solid sketching, diagramming, visualisation and presentation skills for early‐stage involvement.
* Review and interpret design reports from prior stages to gain insight into the cumulative project design narrative.
* Understand the hierarchy of current stage project design intent to appraise elements as critical, nice‐to‐have or minimum.
* Propose creative and technically sound design solutions that capture or enhance the design intent of the project.
* Assist with preparation of internal and external design and documentation reviews, ensuring solutions enhance and maintain design intent.
* Develop basic knowledge of materiality and limitations specified and drawn within project‐specific contexts.
* Translate design intent into clearly defined project deliverables across all project phases.
* Understand how theoretical architectural design translates into commercial practice.
Technical Delivery
* Independently create high quality schematic, design development and construction documentation.
* Take ownership of assigned deliverables, delivering accurate and consistent outcomes.
* Possess fundamental knowledge of minimum project compliance requirements including DA, CC, BCA / NCC, DDA.
* Demonstrate attention to detail and thorough work checks before review.
* Prove proficiency in Revit, Rhino, MS Office, Adobe Suite.
* Maintain document control and ensure up‐to‐date documentation using HDR systems and workflows.
Project Management
* Apply fundamental project management principles to support delivery.
* Coordinate with project leaders to manage external requests and track scope changes via HDR variation change register.
* Confirm weekly drawing, design and task deliverables with your project leader.
* Track project deadlines and critical dates affecting work.
* Accurately manage time tracking and resource allocation to meet budgets and timelines; raise issues when required.
* Support monthly project financial updates, including the HDR deliverables planner and earned value status.
Project Commercial Responsibility
* Complete assigned tasks efficiently and autonomously.
* Develop understanding of architectural fee structures and commercial rationale.
* Foster continuous improvement across project delivery and design coordination.
Business Development
* Engage in opportunities to broaden knowledge across multiple typologies.
* Promote HDR positively to industry and colleagues.
* Demonstrate understanding of HDR's key sector typologies in Australia.
* Contribute to proposals, presentations and documentation reflecting HDR's excellence.

* Tertiary qualifications in Architecture.
* 3‐8 years' experience in building design and documentation.

* Strong portfolio with keen eye for presentation and detail.
* Interest in personal and professional development.
