The Opportunity
We are looking for our next Commercial Manager. As part of ACM Agriculture, ACM Rural Events produces an expanding calendar of agricultural events in regional and rural Australia, attracting thousands of participants each year and hundreds of thousands of visitors. To collaboratively plan and deliver exceptional, safe large scale hybrid events in ACM’s Agriculture national portfolio of premier field days and rural events including AgQuip (Gunnedah NSW), FarmFest (Toowoomba QLD), AgSmart Expo (Tamworth NSW) and event support to Australian Community Media (ACM). ACM Rural Events partners with key stakeholders to deliver world class, mass participation on-site and online experiences, providing significant economic, cultural and social impact to local communities.
Responsibilities
* Achieving budgeted revenue for Event Sales
* Ensure the day-to-day events sales workflow requirements are achieved in a timely and accurate manner. Through strong management and strategy, achieve all revenue targets including site sales, sponsorship, advertising, field services and gate receipts.
* Lead the generation of revenue for the Events business
* Sales calls and in-person meetings over the event sales cycle period
* Maintain regular contact with sponsors and exhibitors as required to achieve sales goals
* Take part in sales meetings to track and review revenue targets
* Develop revenue opportunities/strategies, including the Map Your Show product offering and the events digital products (website, social, EDM, etc)
* Update sales event budget, in consultation with General Manager
* Develop and implement sponsorship strategic planning, in conjunction with General Manager
* Manage site allocations and approvals in consultation with the Operations Manager
* Develop and update sales stakeholder communications – deliver quality, excellent written sales proposals
* Manage sales prospecting and prospect qualification
* Identify and apply for grants appropriate to the events business
* Weekly sales reporting to General Manager
The successful candidate will have:
* Minimum three years working in a sales/commercial management role, preferably in the events sector
* Self-disciplined with strong time management,
* High attention to detail
* Display a "can do" attitude
* Ability to multi-task and achieve results under pressure and to deadline/s
* Work effectively with people and function as a team player
* Strong work ethic to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Highly developed account management skills
* Flexibility and willingness to learn new tasks
* Resilience and adaptability to change
* Possess a flexible approach to out-of-hours work. Time off in lieu applies
* Ability to attend regional events, as required
* Ability to achieve sales targets
* Perform any reasonable request when directed by management
* Team player
* Relevant Tertiary qualifications such as Agribusiness, Marketing or Event Management.
* Experience in event sales and operational systems-related environment
* Strives to deliver the highest professional standards
* Prior knowledge of the agricultural industry would be advantageous
* Current Class C Driver’s License
