We are seeking qualified and dedicated Social Workers to support students, parents, carers, and the broader school community. There is potential for increased working hours through opportunities at additional school sites. Moreover, suitable candidates may be considered for similar vacancies at other schools in Metropolitan South Region as they become available
Please note that we have two (2) positions available - 1x full-time position at Bundamba State Secondary and 1x part-time (0.7 FTE) position at WoodLinks State School
About The School
WoodLinks State School is located between Ipswich and Brisbane, in the suburb of Collingwood Park. 830 students from 46 different countries are enrolled in our school, all contributing much to the rich fabric of our school community. About The Roles
WoodLinks State School and Bundamba State Secondary College is seeking qualified social workers who have a passion to work with students, parents, carers and school communities. The Social Worker will work directly with children to develop their social and emotional skills but will also need to be flexible in their approach to provide support for children who need it urgently if this occurs. Being able to successfully prioritise the aspects of this work will be a clear advantage. This role also includes supporting the families of students in broad and diverse ways, including enabling families to support the emotional growth of the child and connecting the with external agencies as appropriate.
This social work position is part of the Department of Education's commitment to the Wellbeing Workforce which provides evidence based therapeutic intervention to students and their families. The position focuses on providing targeted mental health interventions and enhanced wellbeing supports to students and their families with mild to moderate mental health concerns.
Social Workers Role And Responsibilities Include
* Undertake individual and group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students, parents and families to assist them in the mild to moderate mental health needs.
* Providing comprehensive support to families, to improve the wellbeing of students.
* Applying understanding of the mental health continuum to identify when students require additional mental health support outside of the school context.
* Understanding of the mental health system to provide students who need additional support for their mental health concerns with warm referrals to external agencies.

What You Can Expect In Return
* Part-time and full-time options available
* 12.5% superannuation
* Annual leave loading (17.5%)
* 36 ¼ hours a week
A Mandatory Requirement Of This Role Is
* Possession of tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 a person is prohibited from working in regulated child-related employment unless the person holds a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
