We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent position with a highly regarded mobile plant equipment manufacturer servicing the mining, civil and road transport sectors.
Based at the head office, this role will primarily support the aftermarket refurbishment section of the business and offers the advantage of streamlined decision-making and genuine influence over design outcomes. You will be mentored by the Engineering Manager and work closely with a team of highly experienced design engineers, contributing to product design, standardisation and continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide mechanical engineering and design support, including bids, bills of materials, calculations, design briefs and technical documentation
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve efficiency, quality and cost outcomes
* Contribute to the development and standardisation of products, systems and processes
* Produce detailed design and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and PDM software
* Conduct root cause analysis, FEA, stress analysis and risk assessments on structures
* Undertake 3D scanning, equipment testing and reporting
* Support projects from concept through to manufacture and commissioning
Key Requirements
* Australian permanent residency and unrestricted working rights
* Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in mechanical design
* Experience within heavy fabrication, mining and/or road transport environments
* Strong proficiency with 3D design software, particularly SolidWorks
* Ability to adapt quickly across a diverse mechanical equipment product range
* Proactive approach to improving designs, processes and efficiencies
* Confident, self-motivated and an effective communicator
