Library Officer (Local and Family History)
As a valuable member of the Boroondara library team, the role will provide the highest possible standard of frontline customer service and circulation support to the Boroondara community. In addition, the role will support the local and family history team across a range of tasks including administrative and record management support, assisting with digitisation, cataloguing and record keeping, and collecting and storing materials according to preservation guidelines.
This role is primarily based at Camberwell but is expected to work across all locations as required, with weekend and evening work required.
What you will bring to the role
* A passion for assisting in the development and delivery of local and family history programs and activities.
* Demonstrated customer experience principles and knowledge of public library environments.
* Familiarity with local and family history resources and an interest in history.
* Experience in digitisation, conservation, and processing of local history resources.
* Knowledge of community diversity/languages/cultures is desirable.
* Proven versatility and flexibility to manage time and plan work according to demand.
Qualifications and Employment Requirements
* Right to work in Australia and a post‐secondary qualification.
* Preferred: National Police Record Check and a valid Working with Children Clearance.
* Ability to lift, push or carry library resources around library buildings (subject to appropriate Occupational Health and Safety regulations).
