Our Digital & Information Group is expanding, and our newly established Digital Transformation team are seeking an experienced Business Process Specialist with a passion for mapping, designing, and transforming processes to drive business and digital transformation. The Digital & Information group is responsible for digitally enabling Urban Utilities today while transforming our future capabilities to enhance digital services for our customers, community, and people. We drive Urban Utilities’ digital & data strategy, oversee the digital investment portfolio, and manage IT, OT, data, IoT, security, infrastructure, system administration, network operations, and support services. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking organisation that is driving digital transformation and enhancing service delivery for our customers, community, and people.
Reporting to the Digital Transformation Lead, this role is key in developing and embedding the enterprise business process management framework, offering process-centric insights and recommendations in development of strategic business cases and championing Business Process Management at Urban Utilities.
You will be responsible for enterprise business process governance, end-to-end process mapping, design, and transition planning to ensure smooth business integration. Your expertise in BPM will help define how information and technologies are used to build efficiency and effectiveness in our digitally enabled processes.
Role responsibilities;
Specialist oversight and governance of business process management as a discipline.
Lead the mapping, analysis, and re-engineering of business processes to facilitate digital transformation initiatives.
Design and document future-state and transition process architectures that drive efficiency and automation.
Apply industry standards (e.g., APQC frameworks) to ensure best practices in business process management.
Work closely with digital architects to ensure process design aligns with enterprise, solution and data architectures.
Identify opportunities for process optimisation, automation, and risk mitigation.
Champion the business process management function including supporting business champions with BPM leadership, frameworks and templates.
About you:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GSEC, ITIL, Microsoft Foundations) are highly advantageous.
Proven experience in business process analysis, modelling, and re-engineering within large-scale digital transformation projects.
Strong knowledge of process modelling tools (e.g., BPMN, Visio, ARIS, Signavio).
Experience in designing processes that support automation, AI, and digital workflows.
Ability to develop and interpret high-level data entity models to support process design.
Experience with business process inputs into service designs.
Understanding of enterprise and solution architecture principles.
Familiarity with APQC frameworks and best practices in business process management.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Strategic, customer-centric mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Demonstrated integrity, authenticity, and respect for diverse perspectives.
Adaptability to change with strong planning, prioritisation, and decision-making skills.
Security clearance/SOCI requirements may apply, depending on the role and responsibilities.
Performance of ‘on call’ duties are an inherent requirement of this role. This requires that the employee must be available to be on-call and to attend to work matters, both in person and remotely, outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as reasonably required to fulfill the requirements of the position. The days, times, duration and frequency of on call arrangements may be subject to change, including at short notice, as required by Urban Utilities’ operational needs as applying from time to time. At all times whilst on-call, you must be fit for duty, contactable, and able to respond, including the ability to physically attend if required, to the operational needs of the business within a reasonable timeframe and in a safe manner.
