WHS Manager – Residential construction
About the opportunity
The WHS Manager reports to the National WHS Manager and is part of the NEX Building Group People, Safety and Culture team. Your focus will be to implement and manage all aspects of the NEX Building Group WHS Management Systems for Weeks Homes. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
* Implement, monitor and review the WHS management system to ensure compliance with legislative and organisational requirements
* Coordinate risk management activities including incident reporting, maintenance of hazard registers and completion of site audits
* Develop and maintain an Audit Schedule and compliance with relevant standards across all sites
* Provide expert WHS advice and guidance to management and employees, promoting a proactive positive safety culture
* Facilitate training and support to managers, including emergency response, first aid and safety induction programs for new employees and contractors
* Support management with workers compensation claims and return to work process ensuring legislative requirements are met
* Prepare and present monthly WHS performance reports, statistics and corrective action updates to management
* Travel to various sites within the region to conduct audits and ensure WHS practices are consistently maintained
About you
You will share a passion for our purpose and be aligned to our core values. In addition, you will demonstrate:
* Relevant Health, Safety and Environment qualifications, or willingness to complete Certificate IV in WHS
* WHS background within leadership/advisory or similar field
* Exposure to residential construction or related industry
* Knowledge of WHS legislation, relevant codes of practice, relevant safety standards and guides
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and process compliance
* Competency in the use of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, and other safety systems including contractor management ideally
