* Permanent full-time opportunity with a rostered day off once per month (80 hours per fortnight)

* Classification: Grade 5 (HS5)* plus super

Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

The Team & Role

The Senior Data Analyst, Infectious Diseases plays a pivotal role in harnessing data, integrating diverse systems, leveraging AI, and developing applications and automation solutions to transform infectious disease surveillance, clinical decision-making and antimicrobial stewardship. This position leads the design, development, and deployment of data pipelines, AI tools, advanced analytics, predictive models, and real-time dashboards to support the infectious diseases (ID) and infection prevention and control (IPACU) units.

The Senior Data Analyst, Infectious Diseases also plays a key role in the Data Science and Engineering team and is responsible for ensuring information, reports and insights are delivered in the most effective manner by adhering to the Peninsula Health Data Governance framework. This role will focus on specific data requirements for ID and IPACU to assist in the development of infectious disease surveillance reporting, outbreak management, antimicrobial stewardship, clinical research and delivering the infectious disease clinical service.

Skills & Experience Required

* Postgraduate degree In Data Science, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or related field
* Extensive (5+ years) experience In data analytics / engineering, Ideally within a healthcare setting
* Experience with machine learning frameworks and natural language processing techniques
* Master practitioner level experience In data querying and manipulation using languages such as Python, R, SQL and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
