About This Role
We are currently seeking motivated Laboratory Professionals (Operators, Technicians, or Scientists) to join a dynamic R&D team in Perth on a initial 3-month contract. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to support innovative technology development within a fast-paced laboratory environment.

A motivated and hands-on Laboratory Professional (Operator, Technician, or Scientist) is required to join an innovative Research & Development team advancing new technology solutions.

This role is ideal for a practically minded scientist or experienced laboratory professional who thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment and enjoys contributing to cutting-edge technology development. Direct industry experience is not essential. What's important is a strong desire to learn, confidence to adapt quickly, and readiness to innovate.

Key accountabilities will include:

* Conduct experimental testing, analysis, and measurements using custom-built testing stations and PLC-controlled rigs
* Operate and monitor semi-automated test systems safely and effectively
* Assemble, disassemble, inspect, and clean fabricated components and mechanical parts at defined testing stages with strong attention to quality and detail
* Support qualitative and quantitative analysis and characterisation of samples, raw materials, reagents, and products using laboratory techniques (e.g., XRD, SEM and related analytical tools) under guidance from technical specialists
* Prepare chemicals, reagents, and materials required for experimental programs
* Follow established experimental procedures, operating instructions, and safety protocols
* Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and workspaces in a clean and organised condition
* Accurately record test results and maintain clear documentation
* Comply with all laboratory safety, health, and environmental requirements

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Science, or a closely related discipline preferred.
* Background in analytical, metallurgical, or research laboratory environments.
* Hands-on experience with analytical procedures and materials characterisation methods.
* Experience working in laboratories that manage hazardous substances (essential).
* Demonstrated ability to safely install, operate, and monitor test rigs, equipment, and control systems, including troubleshooting when required.
* Practical mechanical skills, including assembling and dismantling components and fittings.
* Accurate recording of test data, preparation of documentation, and reporting of results.
* Experience in electrochemistry; research experience is advantageous.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
* Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to contribute.
* Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
* Collaborative team member who works effectively with others.
* Experience operating liquid or slurry-based test equipment is desirable.
* Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail.
* Dedicated to upholding safety standards and environmental compliance requirements.
