About The Role
North West Private Hospital, located in beautiful Burnie on Tasmania’s North West Coast, is seeking an experienced Career Medical Officer (CMO) to join our dedicated clinical team.
This **daytime position (0.6 FTE)** provides vital clinical support to patients across the hospital’s **Medical/Surgical Ward, High Dependency Unit (HDU), and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab)**. You will work collaboratively under the guidance of admitting consultants, ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care.
**Key Responsibilities**
Provide comprehensive medical care to inpatients across multiple units Support admitting consultants in managing patients’ ongoing care Respond to medical emergencies and deteriorating patients within the facility Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions to optimise clinical outcomes Contribute to the quality and safety culture within the hospital
**Essential Requirements**
Registered Medical Practitioner with **AHPRA** **Medical degree** from a recognised tertiary institution **Current Medical Indemnity Insurance** suitable for private hospital practice **Current Advanced Life Support (ALS)** certification Minimum **3 years post-graduate experience** Demonstrated experience in an **acute care hospital setting** Proficiency in **clinical procedures**, including: Airway management Non-invasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen Central venous catheter (CVC) insertion Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to ongoing professional development
