Role Overview
The Senior SMP Design Draftsperson will contribute directly to project delivery by producing high-quality technical drawings and drafting deliverables across multiple mining and mineral processing projects. Working under the direction of the Drafting Manager, the Senior SMP Design Draftsperson will take ownership of complex drafting tasks, support junior team members, and ensure all outputs are delivered accurately, on time, and in accordance with project and company standards.
Key Accountabilities
* Produce and review 3D Models, technical drawings and drafting deliverables including P&IDs, General arrangements, Mechanical, Civil/ Structural, to a high standard of accuracy and quality.
* Interpret and work from engineering design documents, specifications, and mark-ups to develop accurate and compliant drawing sets.
* Coordinate with discipline engineers to resolve technical queries and ensure 3D model and drawings accurately reflect design intent.
* Support the Drafting Manager in maintaining drawing registers, managing revisions, and ensuring document control processes are followed.
* Assist in the review and checking of drafting outputs produced by intermediate and graduate drafters, providing constructive technical feedback.
* Identify and communicate drafting clashes, design conflicts, or scope gaps to the Drafting Manager and relevant engineering disciplines.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of drafting standards, templates, and workflows.
Requirements & Profile
* Perth-based Australian citizen or permanent resident.
* Minimum of 7 years' experience as a drafter within the mining, mineral processing, or resources sector.
* Advanced proficiency in Solidworks & PDM, AutoCAD, Advance steel, Plant 3D & Navisworks.
* Strong working knowledge of engineering drawing standards and document control processes.
* Demonstrated ability to manage own workload, meet deadlines, and deliver quality outputs across concurrent projects.
* Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and thorough approach to technical work.
* Good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with engineers and project teams.
* A willingness to mentor and support less experienced drafters within the team.
