About the Role
As a Garden Centre Assistant, you will support the smooth operation of the Garden Centre through general nursery duties, plant care, stock preparation, and customer service. You’ll work collaboratively with volunteers and students, contributing to a safe, organised, and productive environment.
Key Responsibilities
o Opening and closing the Garden Centre in line with procedures
o Watering, fertilising, weeding, and caring for plants
o Propagation, repotting, pruning, staking, and maintaining plant health
o Pot washing, sorting, stacking, and preparation of potting mix
o Assisting with pest and disease inspection and management
o Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service, assisting customers with purchases and product information
o Process sales through the point-of-sale system and promote the loyalty program
o Prepare, label, display, and maintain stock to a high standard
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience as a general hand, nursery assistant, or garden centre worker (desirable)
* Strong attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach
* Ability to work effectively with volunteers and within a team environment
* Confidence working independently and knowing when to seek guidance
* Flexible availability and a proven record of reliability
