Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne's largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is "Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts".

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Occupational Therapist Senior Clinician to work within the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service - Eastern. The position is permanent part time (24 hours a fortnight) and is based at Angliss Hospital, Upper Ferntree Gully.

The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service caters for babies, children and adolescents who require specialist interdisciplinary rehabilitation. The young people supported by VPRS are recovering from acquired brain injuries, medical/surgical intervention or require tone management or early diagnostics, surveillance and support for Cerebral Palsy. Services are provided in collaboration with the medical and allied health team, in either the Community Rehabilitation Centre or in the child's community.

Extensive experience working with a paediatric population (babies/children/adolescents) and their families, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team is essential. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in a paediatric rehabilitation setting and those who are certified in the administration and scoring of the Hand Assessment for Infants (HAI) and/or Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA). Further skills viewed positively: liaison and funding applications with childcare, kindergarten and schools, cognitive fatigue and return to school/early childhood settings, and familiarity with NDIS funding, and Assistive Technology.

Supervision of students and other occupational therapists across paediatric settings at Eastern Health and the provision of leadership support to VPRS -Eastern are key components of the role.

Our key team day is a Thursday and availability on this day necessary. The successful applicant may choose to work a 3 day (3 x 8) or 4 day (4 x 6 hr) fortnight.
