Gardener/Maintenance Officer
Southern Cross Care QLD offers a full‐time Gardener/Maintenance Officer role at our Edens Landing Retirement Estate. This role works Monday to Friday during regular hours.

About the role
Working as part of the team, you will work closely with the Estate Manager to ensure the upkeep of gardens and grounds within the Retirement Estate. The successful candidate will be approachable, reliable, enthusiastic, and have a can‐do attitude.
Responsibilities (may include but not be limited to)
* Regular communal area checks to ensure they are tidy and well maintained
* Ongoing care and presentation of all communal gardens and outdoor areas
* Mowing, edging, fertilising and weeding of lawns and garden beds
* Pruning of small trees, bushes and hedges
* Replanting and seasonal planting to maximise garden presentation
* Monitoring plant health
* Undertaking routine repair and general maintenance tasks as required
* Maintenance and minor repairs to paths, drains, garden hedging, faces, retaining walls
* Assist with preventive maintenance of equipment and tools
* Maintain an up‐to‐date inventory of equipment and chemicals
* Obtain quotes and arrange works in line with company procurement policies
* Clear and remove green and general waste
* Coordinate external contractors for specialist work and equipment servicing
What will you bring to the role?
* Proven horticultural knowledge and hands‐on gardening experience
* Experience in general property or commercial maintenance (desirable)
* Trade or maintenance qualification (desirable) and/or willingness to learn
* Strong problem‐solving skills with a proactive can‐do attitude
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organisational, time‐management and decision‐making abilities
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Experience coordinating and managing contractors (desirable)
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively
