About the Role
We are seeking a an experienced, safety-focused Marine Engineer (MED 1 or MED 2 qualified) to join our harvest vessel team based in beautiful Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula, S.A.
Dual qualifications as Master Class IV <45m (AMSA) Certificate will be highly regarded.
The position reports to the Marine Operations Manager and will work closely with the Vessel Master to ensure the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical systems onboard the harvest vessel.
The salary for this position is competitive and will be determined by your qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect, operate, maintain and repair ship propulsion systems, engines, auxiliary systems and related mechanical equipment.
* Monitor and manage onboard machinery performance, including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
* Conduct preventative maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
* Prepare maintenance reports, technical documentation, and logbooks.
* Supervise and provide technical guidance to support staff as required.
* Ensure compliance with maritime safety and environmental regulations.
* Manage and control stores and spare parts inventory.
* Maintain vessel's engineering diary i.e. maintenance scheduling, hours run, breakdowns etc.
* Communicate with the Vessel Master and maintenance department regarding any defects that affect the performance and safety of the vessel.
Qualifications/Experience
* Minimum MED 2(Marine Engine Driver Grade 2) – Essential.
* MED 1 – Desirable.
* Dual qualifications as Master Class IV <45m (AMSA) Certificate or higher qualification (AMSA) - Highly regarded.
* Current First Aid & CPR Certificates - Essential.
* Proven experience in marine engineering, preferably in commercial or aquaculture operations.
* Commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
* Demonstrated knowledge of marine propulsion systems, hydraulics, electrical systems and auxiliary machinery.
* Strong problem-solving ability and capacity to work under pressure.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Current Driver's License.
