Overview
Northam Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Mathematics Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The school serves students in Years 7 to 12 from Northam and surrounding Wheatbelt districts. With over 650 students, it is the largest school in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Role
Northam SHS is seeking highly motivated Mathematics Teachers committed to maximising the progress of all students. Successful applicants will prioritise strong student relationships and bring engaging teaching, learning, and assessment practices to the classroom. They will be reflective practitioners who collaborate within the learning area team, the learning community team and the wider school community to support students’ academic and social-emotional needs. The belief is that every student can achieve individual progress, with practice based on unconditional positive regard, explicit teaching strategies, cooperative learning, differentiated instruction, and inquiry learning. Applicants should incorporate current and emerging technologies to best meet student needs.
Experience delivering Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses or primary numeracy intervention expertise is highly regarded.

Skilled knowledge, understanding, and experience to deliver engaging and relevant Mathematics programs across Years 7 to 12. Ability to use a variety of effective teaching and learning strategies to promote inclusivity and foster growth mindsets.

- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

Mobility and Other Arrangements
Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers may be offered as a 3-year mobility appointment with a right of return to the substantive position. Eligible permanent teachers may elect to undertake this role with potential transfer back or permanently to the school after the 3-year period. South West teachers are not eligible to move to another south west school under this trial.
