Overview
Senior Mental Health Clinician - Custodial FYMHS at Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS).
Parkville PYMHWS provides dedicated mental health care to young people aged ***** in Melbourne's north and west, along with their families, carers, supporters and kin.
PYMHWS is Victoria's first standalone public mental health service built exclusively around young people's needs, delivering recovery-oriented, person-centred care in custody settings.
We are part of a collaboration with Orygen, combining research, clinical excellence and governance to deliver seamless care.
This role is within the Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) and is based at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct, with travel to other sites as required.
The Opportunity
The Senior Mental Health Clinician is a key leadership role within FYMHS, providing clinical leadership, supervision and governance to a multidisciplinary team supporting young people in custody.
The role delivers comprehensive mental health assessments, relationally informed psychological case management and interventions, with a focus on recovery-oriented care.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership, supervision and governance for a multidisciplinary team serving young people in custody.
Conduct mental health assessments, develop formulations, and deliver evidence-based mental health treatment and care planning.
Deliver clinical care that is client-focused, accessible, evidence-based, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and responsive to diverse needs (including LGBTQI+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and multicultural communities).
Establish and maintain partnerships with key agencies, community groups and service providers (e.g., AOD services, Youth Justice, primary care).
Engage in professional development through FYMHS-specific and broader youth mental health training initiatives.
Travel to service locations as required; a workplace vehicle and travel time are included within ordinary working hours.
About You
A mental health clinician experienced in early intervention and evidence-based care for young people with severe mental health difficulties (including personality disorder).
Eligible disciplines include RPN Grade 4, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Psychologist Grade 3.
Relevant registration and qualifications apply.
Minimum 5 years' experience in tertiary and/or youth mental health, with demonstrated ability to supervise clinicians and work autonomously as well as in collaboration with clinical and organisational leaders.
Sound knowledge of youth justice and/or criminal justice systems and related forensic services.
Motivated by youth-focused, inclusive, and recovery-oriented care.

Conduct mental health assessments, develop treatment plans, provide psychological treatment, crisis intervention, family support and systems containment for young people in need and their families.
Deliver care that aligns with PYMHWS standards, is culturally safe, trauma-informed and responsive to diverse populations.
Establish partnerships with key agencies and service providers through consultation and collaboration.
Engage in ongoing professional development through FYMHS and wider youth mental health initiatives.
