About the Role
As a senior member of our geospatial software engineering team, you will provide innovative and high‐value solutions to a range of complex spatial and technical challenges for our customers. You will work across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including planning, design, development, integration and testing, and will frequently apply a broad range of tools and modern geospatial technologies to deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
You will be an established senior geospatial software engineer with extensive experience integrating ESRI technologies, developing custom geospatial applications, and working across both proprietary and open‐source GIS platforms. You will regularly contribute technical leadership, apply sound engineering judgement and explore creative approaches to solving complex spatial problems.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead geospatial software prototyping and technical investigations to define optimal development approaches.
* Provide technical leadership across the design, development, integration, testing and deployment of geospatial solutions.
* Analyse and refine complex functional and non‐functional requirements with engineers and stakeholders.
* Design and build custom geospatial applications, services, ESRI/ArcGIS integrations, and JavaScript‐based user interfaces.
* Architect and implement geospatial data ingestion, transformation and processing workflows.
* Ensure software quality and continuous improvement through best practices, secure development and mentoring junior engineers.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Geospatial Science or equivalent experience aligned to a senior engineering role.
* Proven experience in a senior geospatial software engineering position within engineering or project environments.
* Extensive expertise in ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro) and custom geospatial application development (JavaScript).
* Strong experience designing and implementing geospatial data engineering and ETL workflows.
* Experience integrating open‐source GIS tools, external systems (e.g., REST APIs) and modern CI/CD practices.
* Proficiency with Agile methodologies, containerisation (e.g., Docker) and development tools such as Git, JIRA and Confluence.
Additional Requirements
* This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold an active TSPV Clearance.
* Applicants must also be able to secure a DISA clearance.
